When hearing descriptions of new babies, you usually hear things like,
“He’s so cute.”
“She’s just precious.”
“I could eat her chubby little cheeks.”
“What a beautiful baby.”
Babies in the NICU are usually described a little differently…
“He’s such a trooper.”
“What a fighter.”
“He’s hanging in there.”
“He’s so patient.”
“He’s so tough.”
Little babies shouldn’t have to be tough, shouldn’t have to “hang in there”, shouldn’t have to fight for their lives.
But we are in a NICU FULL of babies that are just that.
We are some of the lucky ones though…
We get to hold our baby and let him know everything will be ok, and we will go home soon.
Not everyone gets to do that, or say those things.
But we are glad we do, because Calvin loves his snuggle time.
