So, many of you have wondered why I haven’t posted any wedding pictures from the actual wedding day. To tell the truth, I didn’t really plan on ever doing that. It’s horrid for a bride to say this, but I hated my wedding pictures! Nate looked great of course ( 😉 ) however, I,the bride, the one with the fancy hair and poofy dress, the STAR! had MONO and I felt I looked like a sleepy dork.
BUT, lucky for all of you, I was looking through my wedding pictures tonight and started feeling SO happy again, just like I had that day (and actually just like I have pretty much every day since!). I couldn’t stop smiling the whole time I was looking at pictures (and there are THOUSANDS of pictures…I guess that’s what happens when you have a mother with a million dollar Cannon and a father in law with a million dollar Nikon, a photographer, a candid photographer, and an assistant candid photographer.)
And so now, 2 months to the DAY after that blessed event, here is the proof.
Has anyone ever wondered what exactly goes on right before the bride and groom make their grand entrance? I have. But not anymore! I know. They talk to you for about 10 minutes about how exactly you are supposed to exit.
“Ok, we’re going to count to 3, then 2 people out there are going to…what? Ok. Ok, they aren’t quite ready yet (what! Who isn’t ready? What are they even doing?) so let me just explain again. OK so, right, we’ll count to 3 and then 2 people are right outside the door. Who are they- let me think. I know they are related to one of you (uh huh…) I think one has brown hair…anyway, so we’ll count to 3 – one, two, three – and then I will give a little knock. Then THEY will count to three, and then open the door. Let me check if they are ready. One more sec. Ok, on three ok?” yupp- got it. And what am I thinking? “I AM SO HUNGRY!” Just kidding, I was giddy and happy and too ecstatic to care. Now though, I look back and laugh, and from now on at weddings I will know why it takes a million years for the bride and groom to emerge. Just one of the many things you learn from being married.
One of my very favorite things to do is ruin candid pictures. That little hobby of mine came in AWESOMELY handy that day.
Candid Photographer: “no, no, no, you look at him (pointing to the not candid photographer)
Me: “Oooooooh! right right, (innocent giggle) – sorry” (To myself: heh heh heh)
Are you wondering what would posses him to do this? Well, he does it a lot, but in this case the photographer asked if Nate thought he could lift me. His response… “Uh…have you seen THESE?” Apparently, he hadn’t….
I’m not a fan of pictures where you can’t see my face* (*see THE STAR comment above). However, almost as important was my lovely hair. A big THANK YOU to Cheryl Royal who did my hair *3* times that month.
