The story of The Studio:
Anyone who got married between semesters at BYU will understand what I call the Provo Married Housing Crisis. Checking Craigslist every hour. Checking the off-campus housing website every morning and 9, and Wymount every afternoon at 4. Being the 9th person to call, 5 minutes after an apt. was posted. Crazy.
Anyway, one day (too close to our wedding) I found an incredibly cheap “1 room” apt. super close to campus available Jan. 1. Perfect! I called right away. 5th caller. Of course. But the 4 other people didn’t want it, so we got to come see.
1 room really meant… 1 room. They opened the door, and BOOM, bed, right there! I’d never seen a studio before. It was pretty plain, not decorated at all, and smelled like stale Top Raman. But I was DESPERATE.
So we made the decision, right then. “We’ll take it!” We decided to live there for just one short semester. You can do anything for 4 months, after all. Then we’d move. Just one semester.
Fast forward nearly 19 months… we’re still here!!!! We ended up LOVING it. And the next few posts will have all the reasons why.
And, it should be noted, you can no longer see the bed when you open the door, it is decorated SO cute, and it smells like roses.
